Privacy Policy

Effective date: January 4, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how LaClaire (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, stores, shares, and protects information when you use our website and services (the “Service”).

Quick Summary

  • We collect account, job, messaging, and optional location data to run the marketplace.
  • We share certain info between requesters and drivers only as needed to complete a delivery (for example, contact details after a job is unlocked/accepted).
  • If you sign in with Google, we only use Google data for authentication and account setup, and we don’t sell your data.
  • You can request access, correction, or deletion of your account data (see “Your Choices & Rights”).

1) Who We Are

Service name: LaClaire
Service type: A marketplace that connects people requesting deliveries (“Requesters”) with independent drivers (“Drivers”).
Operator: LaClaire
Country: Canada (Ontario)

2) Scope

This policy applies to information collected through our website, web app, and related communications (such as email and support). It does not apply to third-party websites or services that you may access through links in our Service.

3) Information We Collect

A. Information you provide

  • Account information: name, email address, phone number, password (stored as a secure hash), account role (driver/requester), and verification status.
  • Profile details (drivers): vehicle type/details you choose to provide, profile photo (if uploaded), and service area/city preferences.
  • Job postings (requesters): pickup/dropoff addresses (or approximate locations if you choose), item description, notes/instructions, timing preferences, and any photos you upload for the job.
  • Messaging/communications: messages between users and messages sent to our support (including attachments you choose to send).
  • Unlock / credit history: records of jobs you unlock, accept, cancel, or complete; and the related credits/transactions within the Service (if applicable).

B. Location data (optional)

If you enable location features (for example, driver tracking/navigation), we may collect and store last-known coordinates and timestamps. We may also process location in real time to provide routing, ETA display, or “nearby jobs” functionality. You can disable location permissions in your device settings.

C. Automatically collected information

  • Device and log data: IP address, browser type, device identifiers (where available), operating system, pages/screens viewed, referral URLs, date/time of requests, and error logs.
  • Usage data: interactions with jobs (views, unlocks, accepts), feature usage, and performance diagnostics.
  • Security data: sign-in events, session identifiers, and signals used to detect fraud/abuse (e.g., repeated failed logins).

D. Payment-related data (if you sell credits/subscriptions)

If you purchase credits or subscriptions, payment processing is handled by third-party payment processors (for example Stripe and/or PayPal). We generally receive limited information such as a transaction ID, status, amount, and timestamps. We do not receive or store full card numbers.

4) Google User Data (OAuth) — Data Accessed, Usage, Storage

A. Google data we access (based on requested scopes)

If you choose to sign in using Google (“Sign in with Google”), we may request access to the following Google account data:

  • Basic profile info: your name and profile photo (if available).
  • Email address: used to create/link your LaClaire account and communicate service messages.
  • Google Account identifier: a unique identifier used to authenticate you and link your Google sign-in to your LaClaire account.

We do not access your Google Drive files, Google Photos, Gmail content, Google Contacts, or Google Calendar data unless you explicitly enable a feature that requires it and we have disclosed and requested the specific scopes for that feature.

B. How we use Google user data

  • Authentication: to sign you in securely and prevent unauthorized access.
  • Account creation/linking: to create your LaClaire account or link Google sign-in to an existing account.
  • Account support/security: to help recover access and investigate suspicious sign-in activity.

C. How we store and protect Google user data

  • Storage: we store only what we need to operate sign-in (e.g., your Google-linked identifier and basic profile fields you choose to use in your profile).
  • Tokens: if our implementation stores OAuth tokens, we store them securely (e.g., encrypted at rest) and restrict access to authorized systems/personnel only.
  • Security controls: we use TLS/HTTPS in transit, access controls, logging, and least-privilege principles to protect data.

D. Limited Use & sharing (Google API Services User Data Policy)

We use Google user data strictly to provide and improve the Service features you enable. We do not sell Google user data. We do not use Google user data for advertising personalization. We do not share Google user data with third parties except: (1) as required to provide the Service (e.g., hosting/infra providers under contract), (2) with your direction/consent, or (3) when required by law.

5) How We Use Information

  • Provide the Service: create accounts, post jobs, allow drivers to browse/unlock jobs, enable messaging, and support job completion workflows.
  • Safety & trust: detect and prevent fraud, abuse, spam, and unauthorized access.
  • Customer support: respond to questions, troubleshoot issues, and enforce policies.
  • Improve the Service: monitor performance, fix bugs, optimize features, and develop new functionality.
  • Communications: send service-related notices (e.g., verification updates, job status updates, policy changes). Marketing messages, if any, will include an unsubscribe option where required.
  • Compliance: comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests.

6) How We Share Information

A. Between users (marketplace sharing)

The Service is designed to connect requesters and drivers, so some information is shared when necessary:

  • Job details: pickup/dropoff information, description, and job notes are visible to drivers browsing available jobs (some details may be limited until a job is unlocked, depending on your settings).
  • Contact details: requester contact details (e.g., phone/email) may be shown to a driver only after unlocking/accepting a job, so the delivery can be coordinated.
  • Messaging: messages are shared with the intended recipient.
  • Optional location: if enabled, certain location/ETA features may share driver progress with the requester for that job.

B. Service providers

We may share limited information with vendors who help us operate the Service (for example hosting providers, error monitoring, email delivery services, SMS services, and payment processors). These providers are authorized to use information only as needed to provide services to us and are expected to protect it.

C. Legal, safety, and enforcement

We may disclose information if we believe in good faith that it is necessary to: comply with law or legal process, protect rights and safety, investigate fraud or security issues, or enforce our terms/policies.

D. Business transfers

If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to appropriate confidentiality protections.

7) Data Storage, Security, and Retention

A. Where data is stored

Information is stored on servers used to operate the Service. Our hosting providers may store data in Canada, the United States, or other locations depending on infrastructure configuration.

B. Security measures

  • HTTPS/TLS encryption in transit.
  • Passwords stored as salted hashes (not plain text).
  • Access controls and least-privilege permissions.
  • Logging and monitoring for suspicious activity.
  • Reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards.

No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information using commercially reasonable safeguards.

C. Retention

We keep information for as long as needed to provide the Service and for legitimate business purposes such as security, dispute resolution, and legal compliance. For example, job history and transaction logs may be retained to prevent fraud and maintain records. You can request deletion (see “Your Choices & Rights”).

8) Cookies & Tracking

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember preferences, and improve performance. Cookies may include session cookies (expire when you close the browser) and persistent cookies (remain until deleted or expired).

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may limit certain features (for example login sessions).

9) Your Choices & Rights

A. Access, correction, and deletion

You may request access to the personal information we hold about you, request corrections, or request deletion of your account and associated personal information, subject to legal and operational requirements.

B. Location controls

Location sharing is optional (where offered). You can enable/disable location permissions through your device and browser settings.

C. Google sign-in controls

If you signed in using Google, you can revoke the Service’s access at any time via your Google Account security settings. Revoking access may prevent future Google-based sign-in unless you reconnect.

10) Children’s Privacy

The Service is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will take steps to delete it.

11) International Data Transfers

If data is processed outside your province or country, it may be subject to the laws of those jurisdictions. We take steps to ensure appropriate protection when transferring and processing personal information.

12) Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and update the effective date above. If changes are significant, we may provide additional notice within the Service.
